Tramway Rosettes in Glasgow

When I was Glasgow, I noticed on several buildings in the city center the same tram rosettes that are in Lviv. Thus I immediately knew that Glasgow once had a tram system. Glasgow’s electric tram route began in 1898. In 1962 the city abandoned its tramway system — the last city in […]

The variation of Art Nouveau that appeared in the Austrian Empire was called the Vienna Secession, and it was this movement that most influenced the architecture in Lviv and Galicia. Otto Wagner Hofpavillon Hietzing (1899) Otto Wagne Otto Wagner Hofpavillon Hietzing (1899)
Otto Wagner designed a pavilion with opulent Secession interior decoration for Emperor Franz Joseph and his innermost circle of family and courtiers at Hietzing station. That Franz Joseph actually used the pavilion only twice for a trip on the Stadtbahn was of secondary importance to Otto Wagner: His main concern was that the imperial splendour which the "supreme court" cast over the little building should bring a breakthrough for modern architecture.
