Areta - just came across this posting for first time. This kind of inter-ethnic marriage was true in my father’s family as well. His father (my paternal grandfather) was Ukrainian, while my grandmother was German and Roman Catholic. While the understanding was that boys would be raised Greek Catholic, and girls would be Roman Catholic, all eight of my father’s sisters (12 children in all) ended up being a Greek Catholic and super big ukie patriots as well.
Keep up the great work - love reading your blog.

Thank you so much for publishing this information, as it provides me with hints to help me possibly find information about my maternal grand-uncles and great grandparents and their families. Both my maternal grandfather and his brothers were indeed clergy. One was baptized as Greek Catholic and at some point became a Russian Orthodox priest, then Bishop, then Metropolitan. I know very little about the brother, other than he is buried near my grandparents (in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA), and it appears he was a Roman Catholic priest. Lots of clues, and very few documents to tell me the stories.

Thanks for this posting. Personally this explains some of my DNA admixtures from the 1700s and back. I finally sat down to place our family tree on various platforms. So far I know a few last names but my 2nd great grandmother was a Kleparski!

Thanks for this great post. It confirms for me what I first heard some years ago and have since verified though some birth records. And also confirms for me my great-grandmother's Ruthenian (Ukrainian) roots and her husband's Polish Roots.
